Automation Department has a strong teaching staff, the current number of teachers for 46 people, including 18 professors, 21 associate Professors, 7 lecturers. A number of renowned scholars from the United States, Britain, Germany, Australia, Japan and other countries are employed as honorary professors of the department. The Automation Department offers 31 undergraduate courses each year.
Currently the Department of Automation is qualified to confer doctoral degree in control science and engineering, including: control theory and control engineering, testing technologies and automation devices (national key disciplines), pattern recognition and intelligent systems second level disciplines. The automation department has a strong scientific research strength. The research funding is approximately 30 million yuan every year, the annual publication of more than 70 SCI papers and more than 20 authorized patents. In recent years, the faculty members of the Department won the National Science and Technology Progress Award 2 times and provincial level or industry science and technology awards more than 10 times.
