On March 21st, Zhong Hui, the president of State Grid Zhejiang Huadian Equipment Testing Institute Corporation (Huadian Institute), visited Tianjin University for academic exchange and business cooperation. The Institute signed a strategic agreement with the School of Electrical and Information Engineering of Tianjin University. Professor Wang Chengshan, the school dean and twenty other teachers and students attended the academic meeting and discussed with the representatives from Huadian Institute about the evaluation and testing of energy-saving features of electrical equipment, which future cooperation would focus on.
Prof. Wang Chengshan introduced the development of Tianjin University and electrical engineering discipline during the meeting, especially elaborating the research carried out by the high voltage and insulation technology research team led by Prof. Deng Boxue in the past few decades including the reliability and safety theory and test of polymer insulation materials, nanocomposite insulation materials, high-voltage DC key insulation technology, new energy generation, high-voltage new technology and high-temperature superconducting insulation, which also led to many innovative advanced achievements worldwide. President Zhong Hui gave a brief introduction to Huadian Institution's work on Network monitoring of power equipment, distribution equipment and international standard setting. Then Professor Du Boxue released the cooperation plan of the two sides from three aspects including key technologies for energy-saving evaluation and testing of power equipment, defect detection of insulation puncture clamps and evaluation of contact status, and energy-saving optimization of high-voltage overhead transmission lines.
It is hoped that through the long-term cooperation in the evaluation of power equipment for saving energy, the research of detection technology and the consensus of transformation technology in application market suggested by the agreement, the two sides will facilitate their resources for achieving breakthrough in academic research as well as economic benefits. “The principle for our cooperation is to “complement each other’s advantages, gain mutual benefits and develop together. It is a win-win situation” said Professor Du Boxue.
Zhejiang Huadian Materials Testing Institute Ltd. of State Grid obtained the National Laboratory Accreditation Certification（CNAS L0351）and Qualification Certification (CMA2009110344D） successively in July 2001 for the national statutory testing institutions. It also received the Power equipment forensic appraisal and other qualifications in October 2003. It is the only supervision and inspection institution who has gained the three national legalized qualifications mentioned above in electric power industries.
