SEIE alumni association holds First Self-Confidence Forum

On April 7, 2018, the First Self-Confidence Forum of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering (SEIE) alumni association, was held successfully in the lecture hall of the 26th building at Tianjin University.

The Self-confidence Forum of the SEIE is one of a series of activities to promote the cohesiveness of alumni. In 2018, the college officially launched the “Alumni Hive Program,” which establishes an innovative flat organization pattern with alumni volunteers as the core. Self-confidence Forum, as the brand column of the alumni association of SEIE, is determined to build a platform and brand that connects each alumnus, so that alumni of SEIE can exchange ideas and share experiences more conveniently and more efficiently.

Dean Wang Chengshan attended the forum and delivered an address. He introduced the achievements made by the SEIE in recent years, spoke highly of the progress of alumni association made at work, and also, expressed his warm welcome to the alumni present. College secretary Li Jiping, vice dean Li Changqing, honorary president of the alumni association Sun Yungeng, honorary president of the alumni association Ma Jingfu, executive vice president and secretary-general of the 8th electric power branch association, Liu Ruojun and other leaders attended the forum. Five famous alumni shared their experiences and thoughts in the forum. Additionally, nearly one hundred alumni attended the forum.

Dai Lin, General Manager of Tian Di Wei Ye Technology Co., Ltd. who graduated from the TJU School of Automation in 1988, delivered a speech with the theme of "Vision for the world", in which he told the story of his entrepreneurial struggle, and made an in-depth analysis and prospect of the development of image recognition technology.

Mr. Wen Liangliang, the class of 1997 SEIE alumnus and vice president of ZTE Corporation, introduced the broad application prospects of the big data industry in the field of communications and encouraged alumni to pursue their careers in the information industry. As a chief expert of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center in the electric vehicle field, the class of 1998 alumnus Dou Ruzhen gave a systematic and comprehensive explanation to the alumni of the development status and future of new energy vehicles in China and the world; Alumnus of 2011, the Deputy Director of the Power Grid Technology Center of the State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Research Institute, Wang Xudong, introduced the strategic transformation and service upgrade of the State Grid Corporation of China and stressed that there are huge market opportunities and demands for comprehensive energy utilization now. Also he showed several typical achievements made by the State Grid Corporation in the field of smart energy; Prof. He Jinwei, a member of the “1000 talents plan”, is a Professor of Automated Institute in TJU. He detailed popular development and scientific research achievements in new energy industry nowadays, whereby he introduced the current status and development potential of microgrid in industrial applications and demonstrated the latest scientific research results of microgrid. Zhu Jinpeng, a class of 2000 alumnus is the general manager of Beijing Shuyang Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. He analyzed the application scenarios of big data from the perspective of technology research and setting standard in big data, encouraging alumni to dig deep into the field and using big data as a tool to serve alumni, serve alma mater, and most importantly, serve the society.

Ms. Liu Ruoqin, Secretary General of the Executive Vice President of the 8th electric power branch association, introduced the achievements of the alumni service and strongly stroke a chord in all alumni’s minds.

Then, the college's high-end education and training office released the alumni service plan. There were several alumni who showed their personal charisma. Furthermore, alumni fundraising was initiated for a student’s sick mother.

In addition, the School Alumni Association officially started the brand alumni service campaign - Beiyang Hui. The event includes regular online and offline activities such as Daily Post and Zhi Hui Saturday afternoon tea. Alumni can also obtain the support of the college and all alumni at any time through the platform, and voluntarily launch activities such as various interest clubs, venture capital investment and financing projects, volunteer services and so on.
