The 2018 International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices (ASEMD2018) was successfully held at Tianjin University from April 15th to 18th.
ASEMD International Conference focuses on superconducting application technology and covers material physics, electromagnetic devices, electric power, electronics, high-energy physical devices, transportation, new energy, measurement and control disciplines and technologies.
More than 200 domestic and foreign experts from China, Australia, Europe, the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asia attended the conference and conducted academic exchanges and cooperation.

The ASEMD 2018 focused on the latest global technological developments in applied superconductivity, and its practicality and industrialization. Sixteen conference plenary talks covered the current hot research topics in superconducting applications, especially the Chinese national key programs for superconducting research and development, such as superconducting ultra-high-speed magnetic levitation flight trains, superconducting energy pipelines, superconducting smart grids, superconducting power equipment, superconducting Tokomaks, superconducting medical equipment, and superconducting high-sensitivity detectors.
The conference provided a platform for researchers and industrial experts from universities and research institutes and industrial companies in superconductivity, electric power, electronics, electromagnetic devices, materials, control and measurement fields to exchange and discuss theoretical issues and technical experience, and promoted the application of superconductors and electromagnetic devices. It will promote the superconductivity research and practical application technology development in China and in the field.
Keynote speech delivered for attendees
The ASEMD International Conferences have run since 2009 in Chengdu, China; and continued thereafter in Sydney, Australia 2011; Beijing, China 2013; Shanghai, China 2015; and Tianjin, China 2018.

Professor Jin Jianxun of Tianjin University is the principal core founder of the ASEMD International Conference. It has become a high-level forefront academic conference from which conference manuscript submissions will be published by SCI in one of the world's most respected journals in the superconductivity field: IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity. The ASEMD conference represents the development level of applied superconductivity and its applications. It has been highly recognized by the international community, and has become the main navigation beacon in the application of superconductivity.
This conference has enhanced our school's exchanges internationally in related fields, while also enhancing our international influence. It has produced an important international influence on the development of our school's new disciplines, especially introducing our superconductivity research into the field and therefore strengthening the application of superconductivity and electromagnetism within our university.
