Recently, President Miguel Angel Castro, Vice-president Julián Martinez and Carmen Vargas, along with professor Leopoldo Franquelo of the University of Seville, visited Tianjin University, holding profound working level discussion. Yuan Yingjin, TJU vice-president, hosted the discussion, and personnel from the Research Institution, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and the School of Electrical and Information Engineering (School of EIE) attended the meeting.
Vice-president Yuan warmly welcomed President Miguel’s delegation, and presented the current situation of TJU in its development, advantageous subjects and international construction projects in detail. He mentioned that in recent years TJU has focused on international construction, implementing deep cooperation with other well-known universities in the form of united training and jointly constructed technological cooperation platforms. Through this visit, both sides can know each other better, further exploit respective advantages, and develop interscholastic strategic cooperation.
President Miguel highly praised TJU’s international construction efforts, and was grateful for Mr. Yuan’s approval and attention to the partnership. He stressed that Seville University maintains high-class level in education and research, wishing for a long-term and stable partnership so as to develop deeper bilateral cooperation by strengthening future academic communication and united training.
Subsequently, both sides conversed about education and research, discipline distribution, training objectives, establishing curriculum and other aspects. They exchanged views on specific working problems, and reached an agreement on further communication and cooperation with establishing preliminary work program.
After the meeting, the six-member team led by president Miguel Angel Castro visited TJU history museum in the company of Zhang Zhen, associate professor of School of EIE.
Then, the delegation came to the School, exchanging and propelling further cooperation in talent training, scientific research and education in coalition. Associate dean Zhang Tao, assistant president Tan Chao, LiuYanli, LiYuenan and associate professor Zhang Zhen et al. attended the meeting.
During the meeting, associate dean Zhang extended the warmest welcome to the delegation, and briefly presented historical development, discipline construction and research development of the School. He recommended expanding the cooperation in respective advantages on the basis of existing cooperation in power electronics, signing an agreement to hold normalized events of academic communication and student exchange between universities and schools, on the basis of the cooperation between the governments, and the support of various funds for studying abroad. President Miguel Angel Castro sincerely admired the discipline construction and research achievement of School of EIE, approving the proposals of associate dean Zhang. In the meantime, he hoped to facilitate discipline exchange and research cooperation in school-related spheres by partnership.
During their stay, the delegation visited the Ministry of Education’s Key Laboratory on Smart Power Grids, viewing and emulating anenergy-storage-system platform, a comprehensive simulation and monitoring platform for energy systems, and an electric power systematic platform for dynamic simulations. During the visit, they gave full affirmation to the laboratory construction and its scientific achievements.
