Forum Held to Empower Future of Embodied Intelligence Industry

On April 26, 2025, on the occasion of Tianjin University’s 130th anniversary, the Forum of Embodied Intelligence Technology and Industrial Development was held at Shanghai Pudong Software Park.

Jointly organized by the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, Tianjin University and the Tianjin University Shanghai Alumni Association, with support from Shanghai Pudong Software Park Investment Management Co., Ltd., the event centered on the theme of “deep integration of technological innovation and industrial development.” Focusing on cutting-edge advancements in embodied intelligence, the forum gathered about 100 experts and alumni from investment institutions, academia, and industry to collaboratively map out the future landscape of intelligent technologies.

Focusing on Cutting-edge Advancements, Gathering Collective Expertise

The main forum was hosted by Zhang Tao, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, and alumnus Su Guannan. Li Jiping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, delivered an opening speech, emphasizing that the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation serves as a critical pathway to drive the development of new quality productive forces. As a future industry sector prioritized in China’s national strategy, embodied intelligence is injecting new momentum into high-quality development. Seizing this opportunity, the School of Electrical and Information Engineering is actively fostering a two-way alignment between academic frontiers and industrial demands, facilitating deep synergy among innovation, industrial, and talent chains.

Zeng Lang, Director of the Project Investment Department at Shanghai Pudong Software Park, delivered a speech. He stated that as a national-level innovation platform, Pudong Software Park has always been committed to providing high-quality development environments for technology enterprises. He also expressed his anticipation to collaborate with Tianjin University in expanding broader cooperation opportunities in emerging fields such as embodied intelligence.

He reviewed the 130-year glorious history of Tianjin university, acknowledged alumni achievements across diverse fields, and encouraged continued contributions to university’s advancement and national innovation endeavors.

Tan Chao, Dean of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, presented a comprehensive report on the school’s developmental progress at the forum. He highlighted the school’s advancements in electrical engineering, control science and engineering, as well as information and communication engineering, while mapping out future strategy in embodied intelligence. He also affirmed the school’s commitment to addressing national strategic priorities, strengthening industry-education-research synergies, and advancing industrial innovation and greater strength and self-reliance in science and technology.

The forum featured three key segments: a main forum, project roadshow sessions, and project exchange and resource matchmaking meetings. At the main forum, scholars and industry experts from academia and the corporate sector delivered insightful reports on cutting-edge advancements, application scenarios, and industrial trends in embodied intelligence. The event fostered a dynamic atmosphere marked by vibrant idea exchanges, highlighting the deepening integration of academic research and industrial innovation.

On the morning of April 26, alumni Su Guannan and Wang Hao respectively hosted and organized entrepreneurial project roadshows and project exchange sessions. Multiple startup founders delivered impressive presentations and engaged in in-depth discussions with attending representatives from investment institutions and industry guests, further facilitating resource integration and cross-sector collaboration.

The Forum of Embodied Intelligence Technology and Industrial Development established a high-caliber collaborative platform uniting the School of Electrical and Information Engineering with alumni and industry leaders. Aligned with national development strategies and focusing on frontier technological domains, the forum exemplified the university’s commitment to contributing to China’s innovation ecosystem, while showcasing Tianjin University alumni’s impressive engagement in advancing scientific research and industrial transformation.

Participating alumni proposed the establishment of an industry-specific alumni association dedicated to embodied intelligence technologies. Moving forward, the school will continue to uphold the university’s motto of “Seeking Truth from Facts,” advancing high-caliber talent development and scientific research while deepening industry-education integration. It will also actively expand disciplinary development strategies targeting future-oriented sectors like embodied intelligence, and collaborate with alumni and partners across sectors, contributing to building China into a global leader in education and technological innovation.
