Communication Engineering

1. Discipline Characteristics

With the rapid development of information science technology, the communication sectors still remain active. Especially digital mobile communication, fiber communication and network communication, which have brought unprecedented convenience in information transmitting and acquisition. Communication Engineering has a very broad development prospect, also it has been considered as one of the major shortages of professionals.

2. Training Objectives

(1) Developing healthy personalities of students through various teaching activities;

(2) Cultivating humanism and relevant background knowledge which is typical of high quality, high level, diverse and creative talents;

(3) Developing capability of raising and solving practical problems;

(4) Developing capability of effective communication and teamwork spirit;

(5) Providing specialized theories and basic skills in the field of Electronics and Information Engineering and Communication Engineering;

(6) Developing capability of following and developing new theories and technologies in communication sectors;

(7) Applying theories and skills to scientific research, technological development, education and management in the area of communication engineering, including signal acquisition, processing and application, communication, systems and network, design and application of analog and digital Integrated Circuits, electromagnetics and microwave theory & applications;

(8) Cultivating global perspectives and potentials.

3.Core Curriculum

(1)Fundamental theories:

Introduction to communication, fundamentals of circuit analysis, fundamentals of electronic circuits, digital logic circuit, high frequency electronic circuit, electromagnetic field and electromagnetic wave, communication principle, information theory and coding, electronic circuit experiment, microcontroller principle, exchange principle, optoelectronic devices, random digital signal processing, principle and design of FPGA, Java language programming, principle of automatic control and etc.

(2)Professional Subjects:

Microwave technology, communication network, mobile communication, fiber communication, design of integrated circuit for communication system (English), free space optical communication (Bilingual), big data analysis (English), wireless sensor networks and RFID, microwave communication, satellite communication, software defined radio, digital audio and video processing (English), foundation of DSP, embedded real time system, privacy security and cryptography, TV principle and etc.
