High voltage and insulation technology

The research direction of this secondary discipline follows the global energy internet and the backbone network layout of super/ultra-high voltage power system, exploring high voltage electrical equipment insulation aging and failure mechanism and the development applications of high performance composite dielectric insulation technologies under the condition of high voltage, high current, high-intensity magnetic field and extreme weather.

Significant research achievements have been gained in this specific area, especially in the key technology of high voltage DC cable insulation, large capacity DC transmission and pipeline transmission, ultra-high voltage DC cables, key technologies of nuclear class cable insulation, key technologies of super/ultra-high voltage transmission lines outside insulation and other fields, and enjoys good reputation in the academic and engineering fields worldwide.

MajorCurriculum: electrical insulation monitoring and diagnosis, high polymer insulation material characteristics, high voltage new technologies, etc. At the same time, the discipline emphasizes on both theories and practice skills, aiming at enhancing the capabilities of literature review, self-learning, experiment conducting and problem solving.

Postgraduates have the opportunity of taking part in research programs at national or provincial level, performing research plans on their own under the guidance of their supervisors, publishing SCI/EI papers and finishing their academic dissertations.
